Enrolment
HESA’s statistical bulletin SB273, Figure 7, academic year 2024/25, lists The University of Glasgow (UKPRN 10007794) with a published total of 38,710 HE student enrolments.
The same row publishes Total UK 24,750 (England 4,235, Wales 150, Scotland 19,720, Northern Ireland 615, Other UK 30) and Total non-UK 13,880 (EU 1,210, non-EU 12,670), plus Not known 75. Adding the published Total UK (24,750), Total non-UK (13,880) and Not known (75) gives 38,705, which is not the published total. HESA rounds figures, so components need not match. We show the published total. Inner components are also rounded and need not add up to those subtotals.

Undergraduate accommodation fees, 2026–2027
The undergraduate fees page says the standard contract is Friday 11 September 2026 until Friday 11 June 2027. Fees include heating and utilities, Wi-Fi and group insurance for possessions. An advance payment of £200 is required to confirm a booking. Rates are correct at publishing and subject to revision.
The lowest weekly rate on that page is £129.92 for a shared room at Cairncross House (total £5,066.88). Dividing that total by the weekly rate gives 39 weeks, which matches the standard contract. The highest weekly rate is £239.40 for a Havannah House premium studio +, total £12,209.40, on the 51-week contract the page labels for Havannah (11 September 2026 to 3 September 2027). A standard single at several residences, including Murano Street Student Village, is £168 a week (total £6,552). Dumfries (Brooke House, Dumfries Hall and Laurieknowe) is a single ensuite at £175 a week, so the cheapest and dearest rows are not the Dumfries option.
| Room | Weekly rate | Total on that row | Contract the page states |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cairncross House, shared | £129.92 | £5,066.88 | 11 Sep 2026 – 11 Jun 2027 |
| Havannah House, premium studio + | £239.40 | £12,209.40 | 51 weeks, to 3 Sep 2027 |

Private rent
A private-rent range is not stated on the undergraduate fees page we checked. We are not inventing one.
Transport
The university’s cost of living support page tells students under 22 to apply for a free bus pass. It does not print an adult cash fare in the lines we used. We are not adding one. A 16–25 Railcard price stays on the Railcard site.

Campus and city
City residences, plus Dumfries. The fees page lists Glasgow residences including Cairncross House, Kelvinhaugh Street, Murano Street Student Village and the Student Apartments, and a separate Dumfries ensuite. Rooms are not only on one out-of-town site. That is a description, not a rating. We have not measured journey times.
Why we use this living-cost band
Editorial label, not a university score and not a prediction of your room. We use “mid” because Glasgow is outside London and the university’s own 2026–2027 fees page starts at £129.92 a week for a shared room. A standard single on that page is £168, and Havannah studios reach £239.40. The label is not your room.
Money support
The cost of living support page points UK students who already have their maximum student entitlement to the Discretionary and Childcare Fund, and other students to the university hardship fund. The Financial Support Fund page, for EU and international students, says it can help with essential living expenses such as rent, food and bills, and that it cannot pay tuition fees or replace a bursary. Neither page we checked states an award amount. We are not inventing one.
The SRC’s student financial support page describes the same two funds and says neither will pay off tuition-fee debt. It does not print a maximum award either.
The fees page points to Scholarships. That is a search hub. We did not copy individual award amounts from it.
The SRC Advice Centre’s money pages are at glasgowunisrc.org/advice/money/support. Accessed 6 November 2026.
Which student-finance body you use depends on where you normally live, not simply where you study. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have their own route. See student loans.
Banking
The student accounts in our banking guide are UK-wide products. We have not counted branches near this university, so we do not name a best branch. Each account we list can be managed in an app or online. Check the provider for what you can do without a branch. We are not repeating overdraft limits here.
