King’s College London

King’s College London is the name used here and by HESA. This page only uses figures we could read on a cited page on 6 November 2026. We did not open every residence’s room table, so there is no single highest weekly rent.

Checked 6 November 2026. Figures can change. Tell us if a figure is wrong.

Enrolment

HESA’s statistical bulletin SB273, Figure 7, academic year 2024/25, lists King’s College London (UKPRN 10003645) with a published total of 40,870 HE student enrolments.

The same row publishes Total UK 25,175 (England 24,430, Wales 360, Scotland 225, Northern Ireland 110, Other UK 55) and Total non-UK 15,690 (EU 2,385, non-EU 13,305), plus Not known 0. Adding the published Total UK (25,175), Total non-UK (15,690) and Not known (0) gives 40,865, which is not the published total. HESA rounds figures, so components need not match. We show the published total. Inner components are also rounded and need not add up to those subtotals.

University residences, 2026/27

We are not publishing one bookable minimum and maximum. King’s residences index, read on 6 November 2026, shows “rooms from” prices. The lowest of those starting prices is £169 a week at iQ Vega (6 Miles Street) and the highest starting price on that index is £414 a week at Battersea. A “from” price is not a ceiling.

Room tables we opened, which the pages label as 2026/27, include cheaper King’s Affordable Accommodation Scheme (KAAS) rows. Angel Lane’s ensuite (KAAS) is £163 a week for 40 weeks (£6,520). The KAAS page says KAAS is now closed for 26/27, so that rate may no longer be offered. The lowest non-KAAS weekly price on the room tables we opened is Great Dover Street ensuite at £259 a week for 40 weeks (£10,360). The highest weekly price on those same tables is Angel Lane studio at £441 a week for 51 weeks (£22,491). Battersea’s rooms may sit above that. We did not open Battersea’s room table.

Great Dover Street’s page also says refurbishment will run through 26/27 and that students may have to move room. King’s says approved KAAS students are not asked for the £450 advance payment of rent. That £450 figure is the advance the scheme waives, not a weekly rent.

Private rent

A single official private-rent range is not stated on the residence or hardship pages we checked. We are not inventing one.

Transport

King’s residences are across London. Residence pages we opened name nearby stations, including Stratford for Angel Lane (0.27 miles, as that page prints it) and London Bridge for Great Dover Street (0.56 miles). Those distances are King’s figures, not measurements we made. We did not re-check a Transport for London fare on this run, so no Oyster price is printed here. A 16–25 Railcard price stays on the Railcard site.

Campus and city

City, and more than one campus. The residence pages list Strand, Guy’s, Waterloo, St Thomas’ and Denmark Hill among the places they measure distance to. First-year rooms are not on one out-of-town site. That is a description, not a rating.

Why we use this living-cost band

Editorial label, not a university score and not a prediction of your room. We use “high” because the 2026/27 room tables we opened price a standard Great Dover Street ensuite at £259 a week, and the residences index starts Battersea at £414 a week. The closed KAAS rate of £163 does not change that London band. Your room can still be at either end of what King’s is offering when you book.

Money support

King’s lists several hardship funds for October 2026 to May 2027 on its hardship funds page, including the King’s Hardship Fund, the King’s Student Fund and the International Hardship Fund. The King’s Hardship Fund 2026–27 page says a successful applicant could receive £500–£3,500, awards above £2,000 are paid in two instalments with the second in mid-February 2027, and an award is not guaranteed. Applications for continuing students can run until 31 May 2027, subject to funds. It cannot be used to pay tuition fees directly. The International Hardship Fund page says awards can be up to £6,000 in exceptional circumstances, and are not guaranteed. Accessed 6 November 2026.

The King’s Hardship Fund page says that fund is for home undergraduates who are not already receiving the King’s Living Bursary, among other rules. It does not print the Living Bursary’s cash value. We are not inventing that value. Read current bursaries from King’s own funding pages, starting at the hardship funds list, which is the bursary pointer we checked.

KCLSU Advice says it is free, confidential and available to every King’s student, and that it covers housing and finance among other topics. Accessed 6 November 2026.

Which student-finance body you use depends on where you normally live, not simply where you study. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have their own route. See student loans.

Banking

The student accounts in our banking guide are UK-wide products. We have not counted branches near this university, so we do not name a best branch. Each account we list can be managed in an app or online. Check the provider for what you can do without a branch. We are not repeating overdraft limits here.

King’s KAAS page mentions a £450 rent advance that approved students do not have to pay. That is an accommodation booking rule, not a bank overdraft.

Student life

For clubs and societies, start with KCLSU. We are not scoring nightlife. King’s residence pages describe social spaces in individual halls. Those descriptions are not a cost.
